Mel had the pleasure of partnering with James Beard Award winning creative director Amy Morris to develop a visual identity system for Miami-based restaurant, Jaguar Sun. Mel pitched several different avenues to help Jaguar Sun tell its story, with an ultimate focus on sense of place and personality. Heavily influenced by the Savoy Cocktail Book, we created a series of jungle vignettes that could be used as part of a larger, flexible system balancing both order and play. A custom logo type is grounded with GT Eesti, a geometric sans serif that provides an elevated foundation with a complimentary lyrical quality. The verdant hues with bright pops act as an aperitivo for a culinary journey through the thoughtful and unexpected.
“Inspired by the cheeky nature of Jaguar Sun and the vibrancy of Miami’s instantly recognizable balance of old and new, we created a raucous but refined band of jungle creatures that inhabit the restaurant’s visual world. This distinctive expression plays to Jaguar Sun’s thoughtful approach to food and welcoming atmosphere, while drawing attention to the bold flavors in the food and cocktails”. - The Morris Project
